Great, stimulating read

I have read hundreds of "bible stories" over the course of my life. None have had the high level marks in so many areas that ESTHER'S SONG does. 1) It is a page turner - I stayed up late reading it every night until finished. 2) It is meticulously researched and historically accurate - one could be either a biblical or mesopotamian scholar, and no inaccuracy could be found. 3) It has the rare quality of being intellectually stimulating AND an upbeat, positive rendition of an old story that many have heard but never been truly interested in knowing more about. Brainard brings this ancient story into modern day parlance and relevance with interesting, compelling and strong female characters that are easily understood and admired by the 21st century woman, whether one is religious or secular. I give it a high recommendation!

I was so excited to have found this book

Having read a quite a few books of Hadassah/Esther, I was excited to find a different take on the same story but with the author's twists and flavorings. Everything was going fine until I got close to the end and so many spelling errors and inconsistencies with the time line began to happen.
This book needed a stronger editor and more proof readers to catch those pesky errors! Better luck next time.

This is a story I have wanted to read for some time. After reading Tessa Affair's books where Queen Esther's name was
Mentioned more then a few times.
I really enjoyed this story more then I thought, but only gave it a 4 star instead of 5 was because what seemed to me was a history lesson in different areas of the book. Some which left me very confused.
Even with that I would recommend this book as it is a very well written story. And very much worth the read.
